The main goal of this blog started out with the intention of highlighting corruption of Torah by the rabbis. But as time went on, I’m finding that I would rather focus on current events whether political or religious, or just more broader concepts. Part of that is because of my lack of Talmudic knowledge. You know, when something just instinctively or logically seems wrong, but you can’t ‘prove’ it because you need to research the origins, then find out why or how the various rabbis rationalize their interpretation into nonsense? Well, that’s what I’ve been faced with. And it’s exhausting.
So, I came up with an idea. What if I hand the job over to others to help me out? I know there are way more knowledgeable people out there who are more familiar with Rabbinic interpretation and the Talmud. So I would like to hear from you your own examples of corruption of Torah with the proof sources. In this way, it’s not just my voice, but everyone’s. I think that is way more powerful.
Here are some examples of what I’m looking for and have wanted to write about myself:
- Conversion – halacha vs what’s actually done
- Holiday or Shabbat observance – Shabbat Goy, electricity
- Living in Eretz Israel vs Exile – the Exile mentality while living in Eretz Israel
- Kitniyot
- Selling Chametz
- Kapparot before Yom Kippur
- Kol Nidre prayer for Yom Kippur
- How Shavuot is about first fruits, not Mt. Sinai
- How Hannukah relates to today’s Secular vs Religious divide – and not oil
Or you can expand on any of my already published post topics. Give me your ideas. If they are good enough, I will publish them here as a guest post.
