Why do Jews not eat meat with milk? When I read the Bible (Exodus 23:19, Exodus 34:26, Deuteronomy 14:21), the commandment says "Do not boil a kid in it's mother's milk". Period. End of story. So just like millions of other non-Jews, I can't understand how this one simple sentence turns into what observant Jews around the world willingly do without question by going to absurd and ridiculous extremes to fulfill this prohibition based on what the Rabbis have interpreted this to mean. So this post will delve deeper into how this happened and what the true meaning is.

What makes food kosher? The dietary laws set forth in the Torah (Levitucus 11). The Kashrut authorities/agencies around the world adhere to these principles, and I feel for the most part, they are pretty thorough. But there are a couple of areas that I feel need a completely new set of rules. One area I will focus on here is the aspect of artificial chemicals and GMOs in our food.
